Introduction
The Museum Department was set up so that the mandates of the Yayasan Warisan Johor Act of 1988 could be met. The Department is responsible for developing the museum’s building and content around the state in each district.
The Museum Division is responsible for collecting artefacts and heritage and cultural materials, preserving and conserving them, and protecting the significance of history, tradition, archaeology, and architecture. It also takes the responsibility of educating the public about the significance of the state's cultural heritage, history, and art through exhibitions. Additionally, the Museum Division has become a research, education, and reference centre for state heritage.
To fulfil the function and mission of Yayasan Warisan Johor, the Museum Division is responsible for implementing archaeological, historical, art and cultural research projects in the state of Johor.

The Museum Division, as one of the divisions within Yayasan Warisan Johor, is responsible for implementing comprehensive quality related to the preservation of historical heritage.
Mission
Research, collect, conserve and preserve materials related to monuments, buildings, historical sites, artefacts and historical heritage of the State of Johor in addition to exhibiting, disseminating and developing these materials for the knowledge and benefit of the public.
