Introduction

The Event Management Division, formerly the Performing Arts Division, is a division that is made up of 5 units: the Islamic Art Unit, the Dance Unit, the Music Unit, the Training Unit (R&D), and the Theatre Unit.

In principle, this section is more focused on providing Dance and Music performance services (modern, traditional Ghazal, combo) to external parties, whether government agencies or private parties, domestically or abroad. The Event Management Division is also a division that continues to support and preserve Johor's cultural heritage in every performance.

Dance Unit

This unit's main duty is to present and perform Johor Zapin dance performances, as well as any other related art performances, to outside audiences, whether they are public or private, as a means of promoting Johor's cultural heritage treasures.

Additionally, for the continued preservation of cultural heritage, this dance group performs live on stage or digitally. It aims to highlight and advance Zapin, the local dance of Johor, both domestically and internationally.

Music unit

The primary purpose is to present and perform musical performances, whether contemporary (combo, acoustic) or traditional, like Ghazals and Keroncong, for external parties like the public and private sectors.

Continuing to preserve Johor's Ghazal and Keroncong music heritage by appearing in related programs and promoting Johor's Ghazal and Keroncong music heritage in the country and abroad, digitally or conventionally.

R&D Unit (Research and Development)

This unit, formerly known as the Development unit, aims to assist in planning and carrying out the development of traditional dance art in the state of Johor so that the department can maintain the state's artistic and cultural heritage to a higher level. It also conducts research into the state's history of traditional dance.

Assists in the collection, preservation, and publication of research findings on the state of Johor's traditional dance form so that they can be used as a book and as a source of information there. Additionally, it contributes to the expansion and dissemination of research findings across the entire state of Johor via various initiatives and activities aimed at preserving the Zapin dance tradition.

Islamic Art Unit

The Islamic Arts Festival (art of tarranum, berzanji, qasidah, nasyid, and others), courses to improve Qari and Qariah, and other programmes are examples of activities and programmes that are prepared and published by this unit as a centre for Islamic art. Additionally, in order to empower and advance Islamic art in Johor, this unit runs programmes like classes and workshops and assigns trainers to every district of the state.

Theatre Unit

To serve as a centre of reference for theatre art, particularly in the state of Johor, and to serve as a meeting place for theatre activists in the state of Johor through collaborative theatre art projects. The goal is to schedule and then present traditional and digital stage performances in line with the growth of the nation's theatre industry. With the help of YWJ and Johor theatre activists, this unit also successfully presented a visual theatre production on October 29, 2021, called Salah Atau Tak Salah, which was broadcast on the YWJ's official YouTube channel.
