EVENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION

The Event Management Division is one of the core divisions under Yayasan Warisan Johor (YWJ). It is entrusted with the responsibility of delivering world-class performances while preserving the authenticity of Johor’s cultural performing arts, particularly Zapin, Ghazal, Keroncong, and traditional Malay performances. At the same time, the division also produces contemporary, thematic, and creative performances tailored to suit specific events and invitations.

The division is organized into four (4) specialized units: the Dance Unit, Music Unit, Theatre Unit, and Production Unit. Each unit plays a critical role in ensuring that every performance is meticulously planned, seamlessly executed, and professionally delivered.

VISION

To ensure that every production of YWJ—whether stage performances, publications, or digital content—is effective, efficient, and aligned with the era of modernization, while remaining relevant for future generations.

MISSION

To remain committed to delivering the highest standards of service with professionalism and teamwork, ensuring that every performance attains international recognition.

OBJECTIVE

To preserve and elevate the artistic excellence of Johor’s cultural performances, both at the state and international levels.

Production Unit

The Production Unit is responsible for ensuring that all YWJ productions—particularly stage performances and digital recordings—achieve international and professional standards. Its scope includes the conceptualization and development of stage performance frameworks, as well as the safe and efficient management of technical systems such as audio, lighting, LED visuals, stage design, costumes, makeup, props, and set production.

The unit also serves as a center of expertise, offering technical advice and acting as a reference point in matters of production and digital presentation. Its mandate is to guarantee that every YWJ performance or publication is of the highest quality and competitive on the international stage.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Malaysian Theatre Awards 2023

In 2023, Yayasan Warisan Johor proudly garnered several prestigious accolades at the Malaysian Theatre Awards Gala Night. These included Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Traditional Theatre, Best Song Arrangement, and Best Scenography. This remarkable success reflects the collective dedication of all YWJ divisions in preserving, enriching, and promoting the arts, culture, and heritage of Johor.

INITIATIVES & PROGRAMS

The Performing Arts Division of YWJ has a long-standing history of presenting internationally acclaimed performances. Its accomplishments include appearances at Istana Budaya, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, the World Ghazal Festival, the World Malay Festival, as well as invitations to perform both locally and abroad.

Following the challenges of the post-COVID-19 era, YWJ demonstrated resilience by innovating new approaches to cultural preservation. Among these was the introduction of Malaysia’s first-ever virtual theatre production, “Salah Atau Tak Salah (SATS),” which marked a significant milestone in sustaining performing arts digitally. This initiative was later followed by the Virtual Johor Folk Dance Festival and the Johor Literary Awards, both successfully hosted online.
