Music unit
The Dance Unit was established with the primary function of presenting Zapin Johor and other traditional dances to government agencies, the private sector, and the wider community. This serves as a vital platform for preserving and promoting Johor’s rich dance heritage through both live performances and digital recordings. In addition, the unit actively produces contemporary, thematic, and creative dance showcases, adapting its repertoire to suit diverse events and invitations.

Theatre Unit
Yayasan Warisan Johor plays a vital role in the development of theatre as a performing art form rooted in active community participation across the entire creative process from conceptualisation and scriptwriting to acting and staging. While upholding professional aesthetics, theatre in Johor emphasizes shared experiences with the community in shaping local identity and amplifying the voices of society. In the context of cultural heritage, theatre serves as an essential medium for transmitting values, traditions, and cultural identity from one generation to the next. Through direct community involvement, particularly among the younger generation, traditional performing arts such as Wayang Kulit and Bangsawan can be studied, practiced, and revitalized. This not only ensures the continuity of cultural heritage but also positions theatre as a living archive that documents the collective memory of society. Moreover, the inclusive nature of theatre creates an open space for people of all backgrounds. Hence, theatre functions not only as a platform for entertainment or social awareness, but also as a strategic approach to safeguarding cultural heritage amidst the challenges of globalization and modernity. Therefore, theatre is regarded as a highly significant legacy, essential in connecting the past, present, and future of a community’s cultural identity.

Production Unit
The Production Unit is responsible for ensuring that all YWJ productions—particularly stage performances and digital recordings—achieve international and professional standards. Its scope includes the conceptualization and development of stage performance frameworks, as well as the safe and efficient management of technical systems such as audio, lighting, LED visuals, stage design, costumes, makeup, props, and set production. The unit also serves as a center of expertise, offering technical advice and acting as a reference point in matters of production and digital presentation. Its mandate is to guarantee that every YWJ performance or publication is of the highest quality and competitive on the international stage.
